Mr. Bo Xilai was charged with bribery, corruption, and abuse of power on July 25, 2013. His trial lasted from August 22 to August 26. Mr. Bo Xilai vehemently refuted the allegations made against him. On September 22, however, he was found guilty of all charges and condemned to life in jail. I took the time to explain my client s circumstances because I want you to understand why he decided to invest his funds in another country. As a member of the well-known Bo family, my client relocated $51.5 million to a secure financial institution for safekeeping. He does not want the money to be discovered by Chinese officials. Important: My client, Mr. Bo Xiyong, is not connected to his younger brother s scandal in any manner. In fact, he was investigated and found not guilty in his brother s controversy.
