Hello, my darling xxx! How are you doing? Thank you for your letter. As
always your letter pleases my soul. Today I am going to go to my
grandparents' village again. I always enjoy going to them. I feel
happy in the countryside. Almost all my childhood was spent in the
village with my grandparents. I have many fond memories from my
childhood associated with this place. Unfortunately in modern times,
it is more difficult to live there than in the city. The village of my
grandparents is not gasified, they have to heat the house with
firewood. They have to get water from a well in the street. They have
a hard time in the wintertime, every day they have to heat the stove
to keep the house warm. They also have a lot of other household
chores; they have chickens and geese. When I visit them, I always try
to help. Every year they plant different kinds of vegetables in their
garden. They make pickles, jams and compotes. I hope in the future you
will be able to taste pickles from my grandmother, this is a real
masterpiece of cooking. In cooking, she adheres to the traditional
recipes that her mother passed down to her in the distant past. My
grandmother asked me to buy seeds of carrots, cucumbers, dill,
parsley, turnips, beets and tomatoes. Since they are cheaper now out
of season. Grandpa buys firewood every year. The firewood comes in the
form of large logs that need to be sawn and split. So now he bought
firewood, and asked me to come help put it away in a special place for
it. Whenever I have free time, I try to visit my grandparents to help
them with household chores. Of course they have a hard time in the
village, but they never complain. They have lived their whole lives in
this place. I have them very good, I love them a lot. I cherish my
grandparents very much. I hope they live long years. I hope I didn't
upset you with my story. You are no stranger to me, and I think you
should know more about me and my relatives. Now you know what life is
like in the villages in Russia. Now it's time for me to go. I'm going
to miss you. Bye. Yours KSENIJA.
